Day 3

Okay, so I'm taking the night off. Today was so long and I have been just exhausted. Excuses, excuses, blah blah blah. I know Cale will help me get back on track tomorrow. He's off and he loves LOST, so he'll watch the shown with me as I exercise.

Day 2 / Season 1, Episode 2

Alright, I'm not going to lie. Working up the motivation to exercise today was hard! I had a great day eating-wise. I went to dinner with my friend Sheila and I had fajitas without any tortillas. They were delicious! Despite my good day, I was just not feeling like working out! Cale reminded me that I had to update my blog, so I turned on Season 1, Episode 2 of LOST and got on the elliptical. I tried a different elliptical program than I did last night, and I don't think it worked me quite as hard. I wasn't as exhausted and burned 357 calories (about 80 calories less than last night). Then I did free weights, resistance band and five push ups with my husband's "Perfect Push Up." Five push ups doesn't sound like much, but Perfect Push Ups are much more intense than my own feeble attempt at push ups.

Ok, so LOST. It's starting to get interesting. Kate is a prisoner for some reason and the previously unconscious US Marshal is now looking for her. Charlie is a druggie. A group of people went on a hike in order to get a signal for the transceiver. On the way, they killed a POLAR BEAR!!! WHAT?! Ok, I'll admit I knew the polar bear thing was coming. My best friend T.Jay has often used the polar bear on an island storyline to explain while he will never watch LOST. I have no idea how they will explain the polar bear. Also, they heard a creepy distress signal in French that has been running for 16 years. Since I am only on Episode 2, I can't even begin to guess what's going on. I will say that I am intrigued and looking forward to tomorrow's episode!

Cale, I know you're the only one reading this. I LOVE YOU.

Day 1 / Season 1, Episode 1

I watched my first episode of LOST ever this evening. I can't say that I'm entirely drawn in yet, but I am intrigued enough to continue watching. So a plane crashed on an island and there is some sort of crazy creature there. My guess is a T-Rex. The only characters I know by name are Jack (hottie doctor), Kate, and Charlie. It will take me a while to realize that Charlie is NOT a hobbit in this show. I have a feeling that his band's song "You All, Everybody" will be referenced many, many times.

As for my exercise, I worked out on the elliptical for 30 minutes and burned 435 calories. I was absolutely drenched with sweat. During the last 12 minutes of the episode, I used free weights and a resistance band then stretched.

I am feeling positive and I am excited to continue this journey!

The Plan

Hello there! My name is Alyssa and I will soon be 25 years old. I live in Kansas and work in City government. My husband Cale is a police officer. We own our house and have two dogs (Evie and Nemo). I love my family and my friends. My life is pretty incredible, but like every red blooded American female, I'm unhappy with my weight. I'm all about being a curvy girl, but I do need to get my weight under control and lose about 60 pounds.

So here's my plan. I will be eating relatively low carb (something that works for my metabolism) and focus on giving up sugar. My real challenge will be sticking to an exercise plan. So here's my brilliant idea. I have a nice elliptical in front of my TV. I figured I needed a show that could be my exercise show. Something that I only watch while exercising that will draw me in and make me look forward to getting on that elliptical. I have never seen an episode of LOST in my life, but it seems to be as addictive as black tar heroin to people. There are 121 episodes of LOST. If I watch one episode a day, 5 days a week, it will take me approximately 6 months to finish the series. That means that I will be done by the end of the year. My goal is to lose 40 pounds in that time. I will weigh in on Monday mornings and report my results here.

I will also use this blog to blog my reactions to LOST and write about anything that's on my mind. I'm sure no one will read this, but if you have any encouragement or advice, please send it my way!
